In-Tune

In our current editorial we pay tribute to the Jackson Street Jazz scene, once a center for nightlife that fostered a tremendous legacy of musicians. Jackson Street a block from our gallery that links the International District to the Central District, was once known as a multi-cultural hot-bed of the American Jazz scene based here in Seattle.

The environment launched the careers of a handful of jazz inspired icons from Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Ernestine Anderson, Jimi Hendrix and many others. Their origins of sound, chord and tonal organization, song writing have inspired and defined a direction of music for generations.
